Sharad Navratri 2020 -8. Mahagauri

Today is the eighth day of Nav Durga and this day are dedicated to Maa Mahagauri. It is a legend, Goddess Shailputri, who obtained Lord Shiva as her husband after hard penance. She had turned black during the days of hard penance. When Lord Shiva was impressed by her love and sacrifice, he washed her with pure Ganges water. This made him white and pearl-like. After this, the goddess's name became Mahagauri. 

This avatar is named Gauri because of its color. She wears white clothes and hence is also known as Shvetambardhara. He has four arms. She holds the trident in one right hand and the abhaya mudra in the other hand. Her left hand is Damru and the other hand is in the boon posture. She rides a bull and is therefore also known as "bull rider." 

By meditating and worshiping Maa Mahagauri, the seekers get welfare. We should always meditate her. Motivates human beings towards truth and destroys the untruth. Worshiping them also makes the impossible tasks of the seekers possible. आज नव दुर्गा का आठवां दिन हैं और ये दिन माँ महागौरी को समर्पित हैं। यह एक पौराणिक कथा है, देवी शैलपुत्री, जिन्होंने कठिन तपस्या के बाद भगवान शिव को अपने पति के रूप में प्राप्त किया। कठिन तपस्या के दिनों में, वह कृशकाय हो गई थी। जब भगवान शिव उसके प्यार और बलिदान से प्रभावित हुए, तो उन्होंने उसे शुद्ध गंगा जल से धोया। इसने उसे सफेद और मोती की तरह चमकदार बना दिया। इसके बाद, देवी का नाम महागौरी हो गया। 

इस अवतार को गौरी नाम दिया गया है क्योंकि यह अपने रंग के कारण है। वह सफेद कपड़े पहनती है और इसलिए उसे श्वेतांबरधरा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। उसकी चार भुजाएँ हैं। वह एक दाहिने हाथ में त्रिशूल और दूसरे हाथ में अभय मुद्रा धारण करती हैं। उसके बाएं हाथ में डमरू और दूसरा हाथ वरदान की मुद्रा में है। वह बैल की सवारी करती है और इसलिए उसे वृषारूढ़ा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। 

माँ महागौरी का ध्यान-स्मरण और पूजन-आराधन करने से साधकों का कल्याण होता हैं। हमें सदा ही इनका ध्यान करना चाहिए। मनुष्य की वृतियों को सत की ओर प्रेरित करती हैं और असत का विनाश करती हैं। इनका आराधन करने से साधकों के असंभव कार्य भी संभव हो जाते हैं। अतः हमें निर्मल भाव से शुध्द होकर माँ की शरण में जाना चाहिए, जिससे भविष्य में पाप-संताप हमारे समीप नहीं आते।

Once a man was on his way to a business. Along the way there were watermelon crops on both sides. Seeing the big watermelon on the small vine, he cursed God, 'Oh God, you have no pity, put such a big watermelon in this little vine, you must have thought something and moved on.  For a long while he was walking on the way and there was plenty of thirst, it was noon. He thought he would take some rest after drinking the water, then move on. A little away he saw a well, went to the well, drank water and there was a big neem tree nearby, made up his mind to rest in its shadow. Seeing the neem fruit, he again got angry with God, atleast, you would have thought something, a melon on the vine and such a small fruit on such a big neem tree, you have really done injustice.  Then he lay down. Sharad Navratri 2020 -6. Katyayani

Today is day 6 of the auspicious nine days of Navratri which is dedicated to goddess Katyayani. Navratri celebrates the nine avatars of the goddess Durga and each day is dedicated to one avatar. Since there are different avatars of the goddess, each of them signify a particular colour too. Devi Katyayani is the daughter of sage Katyayan, and got her name from her father.   This Goddesses has four hands, she has a sword in one hand, a lotus in the other hand. She has one right hand in fearless form and the other in boon posture. She rides a lion. She is revered as the presiding deity of Vrajamandal. Their forms are very grand and divine. Their colors are shiny and phosphor like gold.  Maa Katyayani is considered particularly important for unmarried girls. The girls, whose marriages are delayed or have trouble in marriage, worship the mother Katyayani's quadrilateral form to get rid of their trouble.
