The Devi Mahatmya or Devi Mahatmyam or "The Glory of the Goddess" is a Hindu religious text describing the Goddess as the supreme power and creator of the universe. It is part of the Markandeya Purana. Devi Mahatmyam is also known as the “Durgā Saptashatī”. The text arranged into 13 chapters. It is one of the most important texts of Shaktism tradition within Hinduism. 

The nine-day festival of Sharad Navratri 2020 started today and is being celebrated across the country with full fervour and enthusiasm. The Sharad Navratri 2020 will conclude on October 25 with Ram Navmi. The Sharad Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Durga, who killed the demon king Mahishasura. This gives us a lesson about victory over evil. However, evil may remain for some time, but is ultimately defeated by good. It is also a big lesson for us to live life. It teaches us that everything in this world is mortal, we should not be enamored of anyone. Just as in the Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, the emphasis is on “doings” itself, not on the desire for its fruit, because man's downfall starts from where the desires begin to happen. 

The Devi Mahatmya presents the story of a majestic king, a businessman who were betrayed by their family, and a saint whose teachings take them beyond existential misery. In this Mahatmya, nine different forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped. Today is the first day of Navratri and “Goddess Shailputri” is worshiped on this day. 

“Goddess Shailputri” is the first manifestation of Goddess Durga. She holds a Trishul in one hand and a lotus in the other and rides a bull called Nandi. देवी महात्म्य या देवी महात्म्यम या "देवी की महिमा" एक हिंदू धार्मिक पाठ है जो देवी को ब्रह्मांड की सर्वोच्च शक्ति और निर्माता के रूप में वर्णित करता है। यह मार्कंडेय पुराण का हिस्सा है। देवी महात्म्यम को "दुर्गा सप्तशती" के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। पाठ 13 अध्यायों में व्यवस्थित है। यह हिंदू धर्म के भीतर शक्तिवाद परंपरा के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण ग्रंथों में से एक है। 

शरद नवरात्रि 2020 का नौ दिवसीय त्योहार आज से शुरू हो गया है और पूरे देश में पूरे उत्साह और उत्साह के साथ मनाया जा रहा है। शरद नवरात्रि 2020 का समापन 25 अक्टूबर को राम नवमी के साथ होगा। शरद नवरात्रि देवी दुर्गा को समर्पित है, जिन्होंने राक्षस राजा महिषासुर का वध किया था। यह हमें बुराई पर जीत के बारे में एक सबक देता है। हालाँकि, बुराई कुछ समय के लिए रह सकती है, लेकिन अंत में अच्छाई से हार जाती है। यह हमें जीवन को जीने का एक बड़ा सबक भी है। यह हमें सिखाता हैं की इस संसार में हर चीज नश्वर हैं हमे किसी के प्रति आसक्त नहीं होना चाहिए। जिस प्रकार श्रीमद्भागवत गीता में भी कर्म पर ही जोर दिया हैं, उसके फल की इच्छा पर नहीं क्योंकि जहाँ इच्छाएं होने लगती हैं वही से मनुष्य का पतन प्रारम्भ होता हैं। 

देवी महात्म्य एक प्रतापी राजा, एक व्यापारी की कहानी प्रस्तुत करता है, जिनको उनके परिवार द्वारा धोखा दिया गया, और एक संत जिसका उपदेश उन्हें अस्तित्वगत दुख से परे ले जाता है। इस महात्म्य में माँ दुर्गा के नौ अलग-अलग रुपों की उपासना की जाती हैं। आज नवरात्र का पहला दिन हैं। इस दिन देवी शैलपुत्री की पूजा और आराधना की जाती हैं। 

देवी शैलपुत्री देवी दुर्गा की पहली अभिव्यक्ति हैं। वह एक हाथ में त्रिशूल और दूसरे में कमल धारण करती है और नंदी नामक बैल की सवारी करती है। देवी पार्वती का जन्म हिमालय की पुत्री के रूप में हुआ था और संस्कृत में शैल का अर्थ पर्वत होता है, इस प्रकार उन्हें शैलपुत्री के नाम से जाना जाता है। देवी शैलपुत्री का वरण श्वेत होता हैं।
