Dussehra is the main festival of Hinduism. According to religious belief, this festival is celebrated as the victory of good over evil and victory of truth over untruth. Every year this festival is celebrated on the Dashami date of Ashwin month Shukla Paksha. According to Hindu religious belief, Dussehra festival is celebrated for two reasons. According to the legend there was a demon named Mahishasura who was a great devotee of Brahma. He pleased Brahma with his tenacity and obtained a boon. In the boon, no god, demon or any human living on earth can kill him. On receiving the boon, he became very unkind and started terrorizing all the three worlds. Troubled by her terror, the Gods and Goddesses along with Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh gave birth to Durga as the mother power. Mother Durga and Mahishasura fought fiercely for nine days and on the tenth day, Mother Durga killed Mahishasura. This day is celebrated as the victory of good over evil.
