Sharad Navratri 2020 -4. Kushmanda

The goddess is worshiped as Kushmanda on the fourth day in Navratri. This goddess has been named as Kushmanda because of her slow, light laughter causing the universe came into being. When there was no creation, there was darkness all around, then this goddess created the universe with her humor. That is why it has been called Adi Swaroopa or Adishakti of the universe.

The vehicle of this goddess is Leo. This goddess lives in the world within the solar system. Only he has the power to live in the solar system. That is why the brightness of her body is as bright as that of the sun. Ten directions are bright with her lightness. This goddess has eight arms, hence she is called Ashtabhuja. Her seven hands have the kamandal, bow, arrow, lotus-flower, nectar kalash, chakra and mace respectively. In the eighth hand is a chanting rosary giving all siddhis and funds.  

Worshiping this Goddess on the fourth day of Navratri should be worshiped with a smooth and pious mind. By this, devotees destroy diseases and exploits and get age, fame, strength and healing. नवरात्रि में चौथे दिन देवी को कुष्मांडा के रूप में पूजा जाता है। इस देवी को कुष्मांडा नाम दिया गया है क्योंकि उनकी धीमी, हल्की हँसी के कारण ब्रह्मांड अस्तित्व में आया था। जब कोई रचना नहीं थी, चारों ओर अंधेरा था, तब इस देवी ने अपने हास्य से ब्रह्मांड का निर्माण किया। इसीलिए इसे ब्रह्मांड का आदि स्वरूप या आदिशक्ति कहा गया है।  

इस देवी का वाहन सिंह है। यह देवी दुनिया में सौरमंडल के भीतर रहती है। केवल वह सौर मंडल में रहने की शक्ति रखता है। यही कारण है कि उसके शरीर की चमक सूरज की तरह ही चमकदार है। उसके तेज से दसों दिशाएँ प्रकाशमान हैं। इस देवी की आठ भुजाएँ हैं, इसलिए उन्हें अष्टभुजा कहा जाता है। उनके सात हाथों में क्रमशः कमंडल, धनुष, बाण, कमल-पुष्प, अमृत कलश, चक्र और गदा हैं। आठवें हाथ में सभी सिद्धियों और निधियों को देने वाली जप माला है।  

इस देवी की पूजा नवरात्रि के चौथे दिन सहज और पवित्र मन से की जानी चाहिए। इसके द्वारा, भक्त रोगों और शोषण को नष्ट करते हैं और आयु, प्रसिद्धि, शक्ति और आरोग्य प्राप्त करते हैं। ये देवी न्यूनतम सेवा और भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर आशीर्वाद देती हैं। जो सही मन से पूजा करता है वह परम पद को सहजता से प्राप्त कर लेता है।

Once a man was on his way to a business. Along the way there were watermelon crops on both sides. Seeing the big watermelon on the small vine, he cursed God, 'Oh God, you have no pity, put such a big watermelon in this little vine, you must have thought something and moved on.  For a long while he was walking on the way and there was plenty of thirst, it was noon. He thought he would take some rest after drinking the water, then move on. A little away he saw a well, went to the well, drank water and there was a big neem tree nearby, made up his mind to rest in its shadow. Sharad Navratri 2020 -6. Katyayani

Today is day 6 of the auspicious nine days of Navratri which is dedicated to goddess Katyayani. Navratri celebrates the nine avatars of the goddess Durga and each day is dedicated to one avatar. Since there are different avatars of the goddess, each of them signify a particular colour too. Devi Katyayani is the daughter of sage Katyayan, and got her name from her father.   This Goddesses has four hands, she has a sword in one hand, a lotus in the other hand. She has one right hand in fearless form and the other in boon posture. She rides a lion. She is revered as the presiding deity of Vrajamandal. Their forms are very grand and divine. Their colors are shiny and phosphor like gold.  Maa Katyayani is considered particularly important for unmarried girls. The girls, whose marriages are delayed or have trouble in marriage, worship the mother Katyayani's quadrilateral form to get rid of their trouble.
